SafeShare Help Center

Privacy when sharing links

Links can contain more than the visible destination. SafeShare helps you recognize extra information before sharing.

Local-first: No upload, no cloud, no AI – the check happens directly in your browser, on your device.

What happens when you share a link?

When you share a link, you may pass on more than the actual destination address. URLs can contain campaign parameters, click IDs, partner references, search terms or variant information.

That is not automatically dangerous. But it is often unnecessary when you simply want to forward a link to another person.

Example

Before

After

Typical data traces in links

Campaign

For example utm_source, utm_medium or utm_campaign.

Click ID

For example fbclid, gclid or similar attribution values.

Function

For example language, search, filters, page numbers or video timestamps.

How to share links more cleanly

  1. Copy the link.
  2. Paste it into SafeShare.
  3. Review the result.
  4. Copy the cleaned link and share it consciously.
SafeShare should not blindly shorten or rewrite links. It shows recognizable extras so you can decide what to share.

What link hygiene does not replace

  • It is not a VPN and not an ad blocker.
  • It does not protect against IP logs, fingerprinting or tracking after login.
  • It does not make every platform interaction anonymous.

FAQ

Is a long link automatically dangerous?

No. A long link can contain functional parameters. That is why checking is better than deleting everything blindly.

Are my links stored?

No. The check happens locally in the browser.

Does SafeShare replace privacy settings?

No. SafeShare helps with link hygiene. It does not replace browser, account or platform privacy settings.
