A redirect automatically forwards one address to another – often for good reasons, sometimes as a measuring intermediate step.
A redirect is a forwarding: you open one address, the server answers with a new address, and the browser opens it automatically.
example.com/old → example.com/new
There are many legitimate reasons: pages move, old addresses stay valid, short links point to long destinations. There are also measuring and intermediate links that insert a counting step before the actual destination – for example in newsletters or search results.
So a redirect is not automatically a problem. It only means: the visible address is not necessarily the final destination.
After a click through a measuring intermediate link, a click ID often ends up in the destination address. That can be cleaned:

page=2 stays, because otherwise the wrong page would be shown.

A website changes domain or structure. Old links forward to the new addresses instead of leading nowhere.
A short link service stores the long destination and forwards every visit there. The redirect is the technology behind the short link.
Newsletters or search results insert a counting step before the destination. The click is registered, then you continue.
SafeShare works locally in your browser. To know the destination of an unknown intermediate link for sure, the address would have to be opened – and that is exactly what SafeShare does not do for the cleanup.
Not every parameter is pure tracking. Some keys are functionally necessary, for example for language, search, filters, variants or IDs. That is why it is better to check links instead of simply deleting everything after the question mark.
